Guided Implant Surgery

Why does Guided Implant Surgery matter?
What is Guided Implant Surgery?
-
First we take a CBCT Scan that shows advanced 3D X-rays to map your jawbone, nerves, and blood vessels.
-
Second we use Digital Software to virtually plan the exact angle, depth, and position of the implant.
-
Third we taken Digital Impressions of your teeth to make your surgical guide.
-
Fourth we make a Custom Surgical Guide, a 3D-printed template that fits over your teeth or gums to direct the drill precisely during the operation.
What does this mean for me?
-
Unmatched Accuracy: The surgical guide locks the drill in place, removing human error and guesswork.
-
Enhanced Safety: We can clearly see and avoid vital structures like nerves and sinus cavities.
-
Shorter Surgery Time: Pre-planning means the procedure takes significantly less time in the chair. (less than 45 min.)
-
Faster Recovery: Our guided procedures are minimally invasive (flapless), leading to less swelling, bleeding, and discomfort.
-
Better Results: When planning our implants we are able to place the implant in the best location for improving long-term success and natural aesthetics.
What is the process like?
-
First visit: The first visit is a surgical consult. At this visit we will take a CBCT scan to see if an implant is able to be placed. If there is enough bone to support the implant we will take digital impressions to help plan and make the surgical guide. At this visit we will also go over your medical history, and get your vitals to make sure the surgery is safe for you.
-
Second visit: The second visit will take place about two weeks after the first visit, and will be the implant surgery. This is where we use the surgical guide to place the implant. The appointment will be scheduled for one hour, but the actual time it takes to place the implant is less than 20 min.
-
Third Visit: The third visit will be a post operative appointment one week after your surgery to make sure that everything is healing properly. At this visit the we will evaluate if there is a need for future post operative appointments.
-
Fourth Visit: Your fourth visit will be about three and a half to four months after your surgery date. This is the time the implant needs to integrate into your bone and be ready to hold your implant supported crown. We will uncover the implant at this visit, take digital impressions, and start fabricating your implant crown.
-
Fifth Visit: This is the last visit, and the one where we deliver your implant crown! .
Why do you have to wait to place the implant crown?
-
You need to wait four months because of a biological process called osseointegration, which is when your jawbone physically fuses to the titanium implant to create a permanent, rock-solid anchor.
-
Week 1–4 (The Clotting & Early Healing Phase): Blood vessels form around the implant. Bone-building cells (osteoblasts) begin depositing a soft, unmineralized bone matrix into the microscopic grooves of the titanium surface.
-
Week 5–8 (The Critical Stability Dip): The initial mechanical tightness of the screw begins to decrease as the old bone remodels, but the new bone isn't fully hardened yet. This is the highest-risk period for implant movement.
-
Week 9–16 (The Fusion & Hardening Phase): The soft bone matrix mineralizes into dense, living bone. The titanium and the jawbone become a single, unified structure capable of withstanding heavy chewing forces.
